The theme for December is
Stroke Awareness.
A stroke happens when blood flow to a part of the brain stops. A stroke is sometimes called a "brain attack." If blood flow is stopped for longer than a few seconds, the brain cannot get blood and oxygen. Brain cells can die, causing permanent damage.

Stroke Happens...Learn the Signs and Act FAST!
FACE: Does one side of the face droop?
ARM: Is one arm weak or numb?
SPEECH: Is their speech slurred or strange?
TIME: The faster someone calls 9-1-1, gets to the hospital and receives treatment the greater likelihood of survival and reduced disability.
If you think a person has trouble with these basic commands Call 9-1-1 immediately!
