So... my own heart loves the lake. My lake. Mom and Dad bought the property the year I was born. The old, run-down, cabin is gone, but I’ll always think of the land as mine. The lake gives me diamonds as the sun rises and sets. We have swans in the spring, loons and their babies in the summer and geese and ducks in the fall. Laying alone in the hammock, just feet from the shore, listening, doing nothing, is one of my favorite things to do. It gives me time to think, time to reflect, and time to grow. One day, this land will not be ours, but the memories will remain for my heart to remind me.

Week 4 rule check: Layout is about your favorite outdoor activity. 

Journaling: We still have the big fire pit in the backyard, but it's so hard for me to get down there anymore. Following in my mother-in-law's footsteps, I bought a gift, that I wanted, for Freddy, for Father's Day. Now, we can enjoy our evening wine, on the deck, in full view of our gorgeous backyard. It just doesn't get any better than this.

GS Survivor Week 2, 2019-03-01 Snowed Out StripesDelight_02

Besides my grands, my birds are my favorite subjects to scrap.
Week 2: all white, pop of color (green)
Journaling: The best thing about winter in our backyard is catching the birds waiting for a spot at our feeder. We have Chickadees, Junkos, Purple and Gold Finch, and Nuthatches. But my very favorite are the Cardinals. There’s a family living in the evergreen and Daddy always stands watch while Mommy is eating.
